From Mann+Hummel to My Own Manufacturing Facility: A 26-Year Journey

The story of how 14 years at a Fortune 500 company and experiences across three countries led to founding IdEinstein and S.S.S Laser Industries.

In 1999, I started my engineering career in India with a dream: to master mechanical engineering and build products that matter. Today, I run IdEinstein from Germany with my own manufacturing facility in India. Here's how it happened.

The Foundation: India (1999-2005)

I started in product design and manufacturing in India, working on everything from consumer products to industrial machinery. This taught me the fundamentals:

  • How to design for manufacturability
  • Understanding cost constraints
  • Working with limited resources to create quality products
  • Key lesson: Constraints breed creativity. Indian engineers excel at finding cost-effective solutions.

    The Precision Chapter: Singapore (2005-2010)

Moving to Singapore exposed me to high-precision engineering for Southeast Asian markets. The standards were higher, the tolerances tighter, and the quality expectations stricter.

Key lesson: Precision isn't just about equipment—it's about process, documentation, and culture.

    The German Standard: Mann+Hummel (2010-2024)

Joining Mann+Hummel in Germany was transformative. For 14 years, I worked in R&D, leading initiatives in filtration technology and earning 2+ patents.

    What I learned at Mann+Hummel:

  • German DIN standards aren't just rules—they're a quality philosophy
  • Systematic documentation saves months of rework
  • Cross-functional collaboration accelerates innovation
  • Every decision must be engineering-justified
  • Key lesson: German engineering excellence comes from process discipline, not just skilled engineers.

    The Turning Point: 2024

After 14 years at Mann+Hummel, I saw a gap in the market. Startups and SMEs needed German-quality engineering but couldn't afford German prices. Traditional outsourcing failed because of quality issues, communication gaps, and lack of accountability.

I established S.S.S Laser Industries in Coimbatore, India—my own manufacturing facility with:

  • Laser cutting machines (up to 20mm steel)
  • CNC press brakes
  • Welding stations
  • 3D printing capabilities
  • Key lesson: To bridge two worlds, you need skin in the game on both sides.

    The Vision: IdEinstein (2025)

    IdEinstein combines everything I've learned:

  • German engineering standards (Mann+Hummel experience)
  • Cost-effective manufacturing (Indian efficiency)
  • Quality control (own facility)
  • Direct communication (no intermediaries)
  • The result? Startups and SMEs get Fortune 500-quality engineering at 30-50% lower costs.

    What Makes This Different

Personal Involvement I'm not a middleman connecting you to manufacturers. I design your product in Germany and manufacture it in my facility in India.

Cross-Cultural Bridge I've lived and worked in all three countries. I understand the engineering standards, business culture, and communication styles.

Quality Accountability When something goes wrong (and in manufacturing, sometimes it does), there's no finger-pointing. The buck stops with me.

    Looking Forward

My goal is simple: Make world-class engineering accessible to companies that can't afford traditional German consultancies.

If you're building a physical product and need a partner who understands both quality and cost constraints, let's talk.
